Taking a pass on HD

Last week, Apple introduced HD versions of TV shows. It’s pretty cool, but I think I’m going to pass on the HD versions. Why? Well, for one they are an extra $1 per episode. Definitely not a deal breaker but it could add up. The main thing is the size of the files. We’ve already completely filled a one terabyte hard drive with TV shows/movies/music and with the size of the HD files it would happen even more often.

Plus the standard definition episodes look great on my television.

So do you buy video content from iTunes? Do the HD TV shows tempt you?

no, and not really. not sure we could find to watch them …on our 20″ computer monitor. that’s right, i said 20″. Mr Worldly 65″. True, Jesus didn’t have a screen at all, but 20 is closer to 0. so i win.

p.s. i’m coming over to your place to watch…

Holy giant screen, Batman! A 65″ screen!

I’m mucho jealous as I sit here and watch rabbit ears with my 27″ tube TV from Wal-Mart.

Got another screen lying around somewhere you can donate to your bestest-internet-friend-you’ve-never-met-face-to-face?

    Hold on. *grabs binoculars*

Never mind, I’m good. I can see your screen from here. Move over a little….

Apparently size does matter. Wow! Y’all leave Chad alone. He works his tail off ALL the time. The size of the screen does not make the man. He has a heart at least the same size… Maybe even 72″.

I’ve not got into buying TV shows or movies on iTunes; I tend to use hulu.com and the networks online sites to watch shows… but that limits me to watching them on my MBP. I may buy an AppleTV the next time they update, and I’m sure that will change everything.

…and for the record I’m completely cool with you talking about your TV. :)

We replaced our satellite with Apple TVs. Now we get our content exclusively off iTunes. Apple TV is actually probably my favorite piece of Apple technology.

And, for the rest of you, the bulb in our main tv (the one of undisclosed size) burned out today. So there. The universe has its way with me again.
